Couldn't hurt if it was in addition to other HCE, but as a stand alone experience it won't count for much when you are up against applicants with thousands of hrs of HCE. It does give you something to talk about at the interview and it looks good as community service. I have done several medical missions. They are very worthwhile, just don't assume it will clinch a spot in PA school for you.
The avg hce reported by the aapa last year for accepted applicants to all pa schools was something like 4300 hrs. granted, this is swayed by some individuals with 30,000+ hrs, but you still need at least 1000 hrs to be competitive for most quality programs.
