Is it possible to do missionary work with Doctors Without Borders? Or any other sort of program or is podiatry strictly US concentrated thing?

I know a lot of attendings who set up their own organization to do this. Google "podiatry mission trips" and you will find a bunch of info.
Thanks. I applied and was accepted for podiatry but missionary work is very important to me and would have been difficult to not have the opportunity to do so.

There are definitely opportunities. Podiatry overseas, Podiatry medical missions...

One thing though, and this is a matter of personal opinion- I do not see any true value in mission trips. You go, work your tail off for a few days, take some photos, and then leave. No follow up, no aftercare- putting in stitches you won't be around to ensure they are taken out. Frankly, it's irresponsible. Again, matter of personal opinion- but the opportunities are definitely there.

Some care is better than no care in certain places. It may not be standard protocol but it's something some people need.

When I was in engineering school, we studied about a project in India called the Jaipur foot. I dont remember much about it but basically it was a leg/foot implant that was super cost effective, roughly 15-20 USD?
