Ch 6, Passage XIII.

Asking for the temperature change of 1000 g of water if the bomb calorimeter is insulates absorbs all the heat generated by burning 15 grams of ribose.

Delta Hcombustion of ribose = -2076 kcal/mole

n = 0.1 mol, thus generating -207 kcal of energy

E = mc*delta T
Delta T = 207,000 cal/4.18 J/gK*1000 g = 50 degrees Celsius.

This is what the book says. But don't you need to convert the calories into joules before dividing?
