I'm strongly considering doing LECOM Erie's MMS program this coming fall. My GPA is terrible, borderline 3.0. First attempt MCAT last year was 501, retaking it in a couple months and I'm shooting for a 505-510. I have good clinical experience (EMT, MA), volunteer experience (EMT), shadowing, and some research experience.
I'm apprehensive to commit to the program because I recognize how high risk it is. I've read that people don't make it into the DO program even after having made the GPA cutoff. Throughout all of undergrad I never really developed good study habits which is in part why my GPA is so low (also due to one semester of withdrawl failures after a death in my family). The last couple semesters I have been getting mostly A's and B's in upper level sciences.
Is the risk worth it? Do I have hope?
