Does anybody have a mnemonic for the drugs that cause hemolysis in G6PD deficiency? I'm clueless...

Thanks!

G6PD hemolysis = pyramethamine, sulfonamide, nitrofurantoin, ibuprofen, isoniazid, primaquine, chloramphenicol, aspirin.

🙂 I've seen that one on here, but memorizing that is nearly as difficult as memorizing the drugs themselves! Thanks though! :laugh:

here's one:

Pain IN the PRIMARY PYRAMID: 3 elements (nitro, chlor, sulf)

Pain=ASA, ibuprofen
IN=INH
PRIMARY=primaquine
PYRAMID=pyrimethamine
3 elements=nitrofurantoin, chloramphenicol, sulfonamides

These are the ones mentioned in Master the Boards:
Dapsone, Quinidine, Primaquine, Nitrofurantoin, Sulfa, and fava beans.

the Danish Queen, Prince, and Knight Suffer from G6PD deficiency when they eat Fava Beans.

I understand Danes are not of Mediterranean origin but it fits my mnemonic.
