Ask what your dental professor recommends and needs for your criteria. If you are asking about the real world after you graduate, none of that matters.
Yeah, you need to see what the grading criteria is... is this on an actual tooth or a typodont tooth? The best answer is preserve as much of the ridge as possible, an MO/DOL significantly compromises the tooth - I've seen many a DL cusp fracture off, ha.
