So a bit late to the game with the moca process. Just started doing the moca minute and wanted to know where I could find my p value? Honestly I actually enjoyed doing questions again. I thought the answers were pertinent and well researched.

It may not be there until you have a year of data?

All last year I had no chart, but I'm not sure if that's because they didn't have enough data from me to do my stats, or if it was because the whole MOCA minute thing was new and they didn't have enough data to do anybody's stats.

I think last year they had to wait until the year was over and then they had enough data to go back and retroactively determine it

Just did this crap on Friday since it was March 31st. Screw them for making me pay 210 to do quest that are repeated constantly!!!

Their were a lot of repeats. It's a money grab while they work out all the bugs in the system. I cannot see someone failing the moca minute questions.

The thing that annoys me even more is that they provide references in the answers that I do not have access to since I am no longer at an academic facility. If my annual fee gave me access to some kind of online library or learning resource then I wouldn't mind as much. As of right now the MOCA minute feels like a gimmick and a way to extort me out of money.

MOCA minute is simply the written recertification exam, just broken up into annual parts at cost of $210 instead of once every 10 year fee of $2100. If I had to choose between one or the other, I prefer the MOCA minute. Please note I'm not saying it's useful or some great thing, just that I like it better than a once a decade written exam for $2100.

MOCA minute is simply the written recertification exam, just broken up into annual parts at cost of $210 instead of once every 10 year fee of $2100. If I had to choose between one or the other, I prefer the MOCA minute. Please note I'm not saying it's useful or some great thing, just that I like it better than a once a decade written exam for $2100.

I know it's a better alternative to the 10 year exam. I just think that if our money provided access to some kind of online learning resource beyond multiple repeated questions, it would feel less like a money grab and more like they actually cared about us staying current.

As of right now, I think MOCA minute is poorly executed and feels more like a chore rather than a good way to learn.

I paid a flat fee $2100 to take the standard 200 question moca exam in 2013. That covered my "$210/yr" fee from 2006-2015.

So the money grub is the same.

It's definitely extortion. Unfortunately, a lot of us are not in a position to fight it yet. We are just starting out in our careers and don't have a sense of stability yet. I also think that once some of the older docs start to retire, resistance to the boards will diminish. The younger generation is used to paying money, taking tests, and just generally not being our own boss. When someone says you need to pay money, you'll grumble under your breath while you're getting out your wallet.

More proof that it is just a money grab: I have been maintaining my internal medicine board certification. My ABA MOC satisfies the ongoing education requirement for the ABIM. All I have to do to be compliant is send the ABIM a check for $130.

I thought it was less about teaching us then assessing our knowledge. Not saying I agree with this one bit (although I do enjoy the questions). There was NO teaching in the 10 year recertification and thus I guess it's a little bonus that they provide anything - - although a one sentence line about why the answer is right is hardly an explanation.

I'll take MOCA minute any day over a recertification exam. Thinking about having to study all over again every 10 years makes my head hurt.
