word has been spreading around the internet that you can modify the number of HTTP connections your computer can make to the host server, essentially allowing you to load pages extremely quickly with low latency.
the default number of connections is 2. i've read that people have been setting their HTTP connections to 32 and even 64. the end result? it's slower for everyone else.
people mod their registry manually or they download programs that magically 'make their internet 10x faster' or whatever.
once word gets around, it's going to be worse for everyone. 🙁
EDIT: if you haven't done the math: 64 HTTP connections for one computer is the equivalent of 32 different people using the site. get 10 people to do that, and you have 310 additional 'users'. multiply that for what the number probably is (around 100 people with the hacked HTTP connection limit).
that's just one explanation, though. 😉
