I read somewhere here that someone got a lot of hard molec questions. I was just going to review this in the 3 days I am doing Gross, Histo, and Embryo but I wonder if I should study this more. Molec/Cell is not in its own category in First Aid so I don't even know what to study. Can you give me some advice on the general high yld topics and whether (if you already took it) it was significant enough on the Exam to worry about? Thanks in advance!

I just want to bump this up, because I had the same question. Anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to have to dig out my class notes on the topic, which weren't that great to begin with.

I'm using Kaplan's notes. They are really good and explain stuff pretty well. I hate the subject and it has always been a weak spot for me so I might be going over board. Some people in my class aren't even studying the stuff so I really don't know what to tell you.

I'm not studying it. I'm going under the assumption that the clinically relevant mollecular information is brought up in the context of the other subjects. I could be completely wrong, though...

What topics are under this subject? It would be helpful to know what I am/am not missing out on. THanks!

-anything and everything to do with gene transcription, translation, and replication
-all of those horrible lab techniques - pcr, restriction enzymes and the rest

I think the biochem brs does have a short section covering these topics, but I know we went over the material in much greater detail in class. I'm sure that is enough detail for the boards, but I was stressing out because someone posted on another thread that their test had several molecular questions, and they ended up failing! 🙁

I think this is pretty accurate, and it's possible to get a sufficient review of this kinda stuff in a 1/2 day of studying.

The transcription/translation stuff becomes particularly important when studying the anti-microbials, as many inhibit some aspect of these processes.
