So I have heard that Dental school is very expensive and I feel like saving money early is very important....I would like to hear your opinions on my situation. I have a scholarship that covers my housing...I would like to live on campus next fall because it is more convenient than living in an apartment. If I decide to live in an apartment I would rely on the bus ( since I do not have a car)... The bus systeem is not very good at my school...Another thing is if I live in an apartment I would save a lot of money...The scholarship will be able to cover my apartment rent for the summer which means I could take summer classes.
***What do you all think? Should I save some money and live in an apartment or should I stay on campus because it is more convenient?😕😕😕

Do whatever you want.

Which do you feel is more convenient for you? You can recoup the extra cost later. It is better that you feel as comfortable as you can because we are all going to have our hands full with schoolwork. It's nice to save but you've got to realize that if you pay top dollar but it allows you to do well then it is worth it while skimping and doing poorly it is not. A lot of people are young and have all the time in the world to recoup that.

I thought living in a dorm on campus would be cheaper then an apartment...😕
Apartments are more expensive.

Hi, actually at my school it depends on which apartment you live in. Some apartments are very expensive but most are not ( my school is located in the south).

Hey I would like to hear some other people's opinions. Thank you to everyone who responded!🙂

apartments are generally cheaper. you'd be amazed how much less you live on in order to save up beer money.

I would like to hear more opinions. Can anyone please suggest if I should live in an Apartment? I know that I want to save money but is it worth living offcampus? At my home state (VA) there is only one dental school (VCU) so if I don't get in, I will be paying out of state ( which means I will be paying a lot of money for dental school).
What do you think? Should I live in an Apartment and save money even though I have to take the bus to go to school, go grocery shopping ( etc)?😕

Aren't there any apartments within walking distance of the campus?

Also, you're pretty much doomed to be in serious debt after dental school, unless you are planning on military service. Money is just too hard to think about as I can see myself going deeper into the hole and no way of reversing it for years.

I would rather spend a couple thousand for my pre-dental enjoyment then save. You're happiness now is very important especially since undergrad is like peak of your social life 🙂

Choose whichever will leave you with more free time for studying and extra curricular activities.

I agree whichever you want because in the grand scheme of things, you will be over 100K in debt anyhow if you are like the rest of us. What difference will it make? 😉

Trust me, I worried about the exact same things as you and still do... but you get over it. You have to or no one would go to dental school.
