How much money should I save for applying to med schools, secondaries, flying to interviews, hotel expenses etc...(I plan to apply to like over 50 schools)

50??? and I thought I was nuts. You'll need to save about 10,000 I would estimate just to be on the safe side. That is, if you plan to go to around 20ish interviews...

I wouldn't apply to more than 30 though.

i think you're lying...50?

i plan on applying to 15 and i thought that was outrageous

I applied to ten and it cost me a good 2-3 thousand. fifty is a lot!

I applied to 12 and it cost me at least $2k

My advice, QUALITY over QUANTITY.

You can only go to one school. By holding a ton of acceptances at places you dont want to attend you are potentially holding spots from people who would kill to attend.

Ergo, apply to places you want and that you could attend if your "dream school/s" dont work out.

50 is ridiculous. You are either applying to too many reach schools if you are applying for 50, or you candidacy isn't strong enough to get you in anywhere if you are going for 50. I'd aim for around half of that. You want to interview at ~10 schools, so your total cost should be ~5,000. Make sure you either have that amount in your bank account or you can borrow extra from your junior and senior year while applying if you need to.

i am a cali resident and i applied to 43.

my friend also cali applied to 60.

i felt my need to apply to 43 was justified, but regardless of what other people think...

it has cost me easily over 5000 dollars. i saved up all 4 years of college and have used my credit cards to help me out when i was short.

for 50 schools....maybe around 6000 grand to handle, primary fees, secondary fees, mailing fees, potential flights for interviews, and paying for the acceptance deposits.

i've spent over 5k for 15 schools. this process is so $$$$!!

however it seems that the OP is from texas, and i dont think you need to apply to 50 schools since your state schools actually want to accept you 😉
