I know . . .I know. . .everybody claims to hate to talk about money but indulge me.

I want to know why all the salary surveys I have seen peg general psychiatrists at between 120 and 140k a year, while residents in psychiatry I have spoken to invariably insist that salaries are closer to 200k? Wishful thinking?

Help me out here.

Judd

Open up the psychiatric news. Most of the starting jobs are offered at around 140-160k. That's STARTING.

Salaries after 5 years of practice are closer to 200k according to the U.S. bureau of labor statistics.

Check out the FAQs.
