Hi, was wondering if anyone could answer some of my questions about montefiore.

1. do you get to do a lot of crown and bridge and endo in the program?
2. is there an interview for postmatch at montefiore?
3. is it far from NYC? do you still get to enjoy manhattan?

thanks. appreciate anyone's feedback!

I went to Monte a couple of years ago and found the program very beneficial. While I was there, I lived in the city. I would say about half of the other gpr residents did too. The commute by subway is about 30 minutes to over an hour depending on where you live in the city. The hospital has affordable housing located right besides the hospital. I just wanted to live in the city as oppose to the bx.

While I was there:
Strengths:
- ton of Endo and OS experience
- huge implant center
- overall, knowledgeable and helpful attendings
- lots of operative and denture work
- very light call schedule (with so many residents, it like q25!)
- i think Dr. Kraut places a billion implants a year.... seriously though, he places a ton and you see some incredible cases.

Weaknesses:
- low number of crown and bridge cases
- not a lot of esthetic exposure, like veneers.
- rotations through emergency med, internal med, anesthesia seem a little long
-rotating through different clinics does not give any continuation with pts.

Remember, with so many GPR residents everyone can have vastly different experiences. Bottom line, the program has a lot to offer. You get as much as you put in.

Hi, can you tell me more about the combined surgery/plastics residency program at Montefiore/Albert Einstein? Is this a 3+3 program? And where do the surgery years take place and where do the plastics years take place? There's not very much information on their website. FREIDA can only provide you so much...

Thanks

Hi ctdmd,
Thanks for the good info on Montefiore's gpr program. I was wondering how competitive it is to get in. I'm in the middle of my class with a 3.2 gpa. Not great, I know. But I'm really interested in the program. Any advice? Thanks.
