  1. Medical Student
Hello:
I don't know if this question has been addressed already. I am a prelim for radiology. I know that I can get my medical licence after PGY-1 year. I wanted to find out if I will be allowed to Moonlighting for IM while doing my radiology residency. Does anyone have any experience regarding the requirements for Moonlighting...any info will be appreciated.

The only things that would limit you are:

1. the state you're doing your Rads training in requires more than 1yr of training for an unlimited license (or you're an FMG in any state)

2. Your program forbids it. For rads this is a lot less likely than for surgery, OB or some medicine programs but YMMV.

Why would you do that when you could moonlight as a radiologist dong prelim reads? You'll make more money and learn things relevant to your career. You'll probably need a year of rads under your belt first, but I'd spend the intervening time on learning rads. I guess you could do doc-in-the-box next year if you were really hard up for cash.

It's not a totally useless question...I was thinking of going the medical informatics route after getting licensed with a prelim medicine year. Would be nice to know what sort of options (curious about the pay, too) I might have if I wanted to work, say, 8-15 hours a week.
