Hello, I need tips on where/What I can do for extra income in Texas. I just started working for the VA but don't yet have a Texas license.

Just started the application process and hear it takes quite a while 🙁. So are there places where I can moonlight with my out of state license? federal or even telemedicine?

Thanks

I can't tell you with 100% certainty, but I doubt that you would be able to do anything without a Texas license.

I tried to do an out-of-state rotation there as a resident, and even for that, I had to have some kind of "rotation license" or something. It was going to take too long, so I ended up not doing it.

Telemedicine has its own issues, but my understanding is that you must be licensed in whatever state the PATIENT is in.

Hope that helps.

Somewhat related, what does an ER psych job pay per hour in Texas? I was looking this up everywhere, but could only come across ER nurses/psych nurses hourly wage. By everywhere I mean Google and SDN. Thanks.

As TX resident md, I hear 'quite a while' is close to 3-4 months after Step 3, anecdotally. Not sure about if relocation. There was an article about how the Tex Med Board was backlogged due to influx of new physicians in recent years, that's partially to blame. Google it.
