I was wondering if anyone had any info on how to find moonlighting opportunities. I am currently finishing up my internship, but have a year off before starting my residency. I currently live in CA, thanks!

Technically it's not "moonlighting" if you aren't under a current residency contract. The big question, though is whether you have a license.

I found a few spot by just making cold calls.

Call any urgent care, locums company or small hospital around that might let you work there.

Locums. And be willing to do anything (and possibly go anywhere...look at locums company websites and see where the need is...get a license there).

It will be tough to find gigs as somebody with only 1 year of experience but not impossible.

Also depending on the gig you may need to budget time/money for getting ATLS/PALS certed (if you're not already) and shell out for an independent DEA. Your locums agency may provide malpractice, but you might need to purchase or extend your tail coverage.

I hope my program allows in-house moonlighting... I just feel that moonlighting outside of your program would be difficult, but obviously it's possible.
