More applicants this year?

Does it seem like there are way more applicants this year? I know friends who applied to U Wisc at about the same time last year and had their acceptances by November, and I haven't had my interview yet!!! Does anyone else feel the same way?

Everywhere I've interviewed have told us that there are more applications this year, than at the same time last year. The same is true of last year as well.

if you are instate and applying to UWisc you get an automatic interview. SO I AM EXPECTING AN INTERVIEW!

Two of the schools at which I interviewed informed us that applications were up by roughly 12 percent this year, which was very amazing to me! Then again, it's obviously a reflection of the economy...oh, and both schools said that they are going to interview the same number of people they have in the past, so if you've gotten interviews, definitely be proud of every one!!!

Exactly. And next year will be even worse. I know busloads of people who are switching to the pre-med track after witnessing (first-hand, or second-hand) the declining economy. Unless the economy surges in the next few months, expect next year's apps to be fully up to those crazy mid-90s levels.
