Hello Everyone,
I have been working on a very preliminary (no MCAT yet) school list and I have been really interested in The University of Miami. I have strong family ties, enjoy the area, and have a love of all things ocean-related. The problem is that according to their website, the year I am applying (summer of 2014), they will be requiring biochem + lab on top of ochem. I have already taken and done well in Ochem 1 and 2 with lab. I also took an upper-division, non-majors, biochem class that is equivalent to the majors fundamental biology. The problem is that my school does not offer a 1 credit laboratory for biochem. The only lab I can find in the catalog is a 4 credit laboratory techniques class. Is my only option if I want to apply to Miami to take a 4 credit majors lab? Also, even though the course I have taken is considered equivalent to the majors biochem, I'm not positive it would be able to fulfill the prereqs. If that is the case that would mean 7 more hours of biochem. All of this after I thought I was done with undergrad sciences (it never ends does it? hahah). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
