"I didnt like the way they paraded us by the lunch table where all the attendings and residents were chowing down on the food as we went off on our tour still starving."
I have to agree that this was a MAJOR putoff to the interview day. Frankly, there seems to be a real problem with a program that gets you up into the Bronx at 7:30 AM for five interviews, with nothing more than a cup of Folgers to tide you over until lunch.
The video, as mentioned, was embarrassing to say the least. By the time that they rolled that sucker out, most of us had already started laying into the place. Needless to say, some crappy flick meant to lure people to the Bronx back in the 1980s (or early 90s) did not help their cause. As mentioned, there is a lack of reality suffered by these folks, as they do not play up the fact that you can get to uptown Manhattan about 30 minutes on the train. Nobody wants to hang out in the Bronx. LOL
The bottom line is that there are much better places to train as far as the location and probable degree of respect you'll get from attendings. However, there is something to be said for $600/month apartments across the street from the place, as well as a solid reputation in the business. If you can do better, don't sell yourself short. If you wind up there, nobody will think you're incompentent simply due to where you trained.
