just curious, if a program sends an email requesting more information (i.e. write a paragraph about why our program), do they send this to all applicants or is there any kind of filter? thanks!

also, i did some away rotations in sept/oct which were too late to go on my dean's letter, and an attending recently told me i should send the evals as a supplement to programs i applied to (assuming the evals are good). has anyone heard of this being done or is it overkill? any advice is appreciated!🙂

I've never heard a program doing this, but if there is a program that tells you to send an extra paragraph, then send it. Each program may have specifics on the Personal Statement, but usually no. You only get to send 4 letters thru ERAS, period. Most programs will not accept any LORs outside of ERAS. I wouldn't do it as you risk being labeled as not being able to follow directions.

I remember UMass sent emails requesting an extra paragraph last year... if I recall I think they sent this to everyone. In regard to grades for late rotations in Oct etc I used information like this in updates I emailed to programs I was very interested in but had not received an interview from around late November, December. Some people don't think this helps much but I had at least one PD tell me this is why I got interview as I was overlooked when they first sent out invites. I also included things like new publications.

I got such a request from UMass and UConn. I'm guessing they may do this because so many applicants are blanket applying to all programs?

same here. i feel like it wouldn't be helpful for screening as i imagine most derm applicants would of course reply? haha
