Hello! Posting because I need help coming up with a more realistic (less top-heavy) school list. Here are my stats (Im applying this upcoming cycle as a Junior - no gap year):
  1. cGPA and sGPA as calculated by AMCAS or AACOMAS: cGPA 3.99 sGPA 3.98
  2. MCAT score(s) and breakdown: 521 (130/130/131/130)
  3. State of residence or country of citizenship (if non-US): Missouri (MO)
  4. Ethnicity and/or race: Asian (Indian)
  5. Undergraduate institution or category: An ivy
  6. Clinical experience (volunteer and non-volunteer): 140 hrs volunteering at two different hospitals (admittedly not great since I did that all over a summer)
  7. Research experience and productivity: 100 hrs in a lab freshman year + 100 hrs paid during the following summer. And then like 800 hrs in my current lab since that summer, with two papers submitted for publication (3rd author on one, and unsure on the other, I contributed 1/4 of the work/data). Published an independent research project of mine in my home institution's student journal.
  8. Shadowing experience and specialties represented: 40 hrs shadowing 4 specialities (IM, rad, urology, emergency)
  9. Non-clinical volunteering: 100 hrs not really in one place, but through my service fraternity and some clubs I'm pretty involved in. (another weakness)
  10. Other extracurricular activities (including athletics, military service, gap year activities, leadership, teaching, etc): Editor-in-chief for a neuroscience publication at my school, tutoring in biology, involvement with some health clubs (presenting health information to public), high involvement with the neuroscience interest club (have been on exec. board for 2 years), in a service fraternity (held leadership positions for recruitment and on the exec. board). I do photography/visual work and have paid gigs from time to time. Most significantly I've led study discussions for two courses, and have TA'd three courses (both for credit and pay).
  11. Relevant honors or awards: Won an award for an independent research paper I wrote at my home institution. Got into Phi Beta Kappa, is that an honor?
Here is a (very) tentative school list:

UMissouri (in-state)
SLU
WashU

Baylor
Ohio State
Case
Columbia
Cornell
Mt. Sinai
Harvard
Brown
Duke
UPenn
Einstein

How should I go about editing this list?

1) Get in more volunteering hours. You wanna aim high, you need to go high.

I suggest the following:

NYU
U Penn
Vanderbilt

Cornell
Northwestern
Case
Harvard

Stanford
JHU
BU
U VA
U MI
U VM
U WI
