If you turn in your application in sept but do more research after you submit the application, can you update the schools? Also can you update schools with the status of your papers? Thanks for the help.

On a related question, what things can you update after you turn in applications?

I could always be wrong, but my understanding is no-- once you submit, you submit. To answer the next post, what we were told is that you could update your personal statements, LOR's, and USMLE scores, and that's pretty much it. Everything else is set in stone, is my understanding. If you do more research after you submit I'd definitely mention it in the interview, but I think that's the only place for it.

You can update your "profile" only after submitting. Your profile includes:

Step 12: Keep Your Profile Up-to-Date
Information in your Profile is very important to the programs to which you have applied; and it is essential that you keep this information up-to-date. Be sure to update:
 First, Middle, and Last Name
 Previous Last Name
 Preferred Name
 Suffix
 Contact E-mail
 Present Mailing Address
 Preferred Phone Number
 Alternate Phone Number
 Fax/Page/Mobile Number
 SSN (this is not a required field)
 SIN (this is not a required field)
 Citizenship
 Current Visa Status/Expected Visa Type
 USMLE ID
 NBOME ID
 Match information including: AOA Member number/AOA Match number (for osteopathic applicants); AUA Number for Urology Programs
 NRMP Match Participation Status
 Couples Match Information
 Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification
 Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification
 Sigma Sigma Phi Status
 Alpha Omega Alpha Status
 ECFMG Certification Status (for IMG‘s only)

As you can see, your research info is not included. If you get a new pub / update on one of your research projects, you will need to contact programs directly. Honestly, this type of thing is unlikely to drive your application one way or the other. IMHO, better to hold onto things like this, and bring them to your interview.
