I heard from someone that more than 3 transcripts from different undergrad colleges looks bad for medical school.

I understand that for AMCAS cGPA they will combine all grades regardless. Which is why I was planning on scattering up a bit and taking courses I know I could excel in at different institutions.

But, does more than 3 transcripts look bad? Or is this a rumor.

I have 5 transcripts. One from 1 semester at a private school. Another from 1 semester at a community college. Another from 3 years at an undergrad institution. One from my PhD. One from the military that I didn't even know I had until AMCAS told me.

edit: and I still was offered several interviews and accepted at wonderful schools.

5 transcripts here and it didn't keep me from getting interviews or accepted either. However, I was asked about it during my interviews (and I did have legit answer for it). So you might be asked to talk about it if it comes up.

I'm pretty sure that it's not the number of transcripts that's the problem. They basically just don't want to see people doing what you're planning to do: taking orgo at a CC because it's easier there, for instance.

Right no I am actually not planning on doing that...More like taking a slew of biology courses at a different college.

Um, ya, but you might be mistaken. I really did hear that more than 3 should be avoided. So I'll probably opt out of doing that, unless I can manage to do it at a college I already took one course at, so it will still only be 3 transcripts in total.
Someone might have told you that, but they're wrong. There's no hard and fast number of transcripts that's ok or not ok. It's entirely dependent on the individual situation and what the reasons are for having multiple transcripts. Having more than 3 transcripts is not a red flag.

Edit: I'm not saying you should do what you're thinking of doing - it could reflect poorly on you, but not simply because >3 = bad.

6 schools here, interviewed a bunch no one ever said anything about it. Now I haven't been accepted anywhere but that might just be me.

Gotta have a good reason to do this since you're at a top school. This has been noted by adcoms. It will be noticed that you're going to CUNYs for prereqs instead of doing them at the better school. State school to state school may not be noticed too much as others have said, but in your case, tread more carefully.
