Hey, I checked today and my final letter was sent today. Did anyone else's change?

That's really weird. I thought committee meetings were every 15th? Does this mean I was rejected?

mine still hasn't changed... for the last THREE months!!!!

are you talking pre- or post-interview?

yeah, me too...i interviewed there last month and the page just changed to Final Decision Letter sent...IS THIS BAD NEWS????

This is post-interview. I was there end of January...

Wasn't the last batch of mass rejections sent in early January? Gulp, it's not looking good.

maybe this is the group of mass acceptances.... and they decided to accept me without a secondary or an interview.

Has anyone tried asking for their decision over the phone? Or do they just smack you down?

i interviewed mid feb and my status page does not indicate that a decision has been made yet. i know it's still early, so i guess i'll still have a few more weeks to wait. i hope the final decision letters bring good news!

i also interviewed mid-feb. status page is still blank about final decision letters.

Mine was in mid January. The final decision section is still a blank.

Doublestrandbreak, I have a hunch that it will be a good news that you're receiving a letter so soon after your interview. The immediate acceptance letters (within a month or so after the interview), granted only to those highly gifted, seem to be sent much much faster than the regular acceptance letters one of which I hope to receive SOON. Please keep us posted.

Incendiary & Doublestrandbreak: Please let us know as soon as you get that letter!! I interviewed 2/7 and no letter has been sent yet. BTW I called the Admissions office the other day and the guy said the committee doesnt always meet on the 15th. They actually meet every week, and it is always a different day, depending on their whim.

Sure, I'll let you guys know what the "final decision" is. I think it's going to be grim news, however, because it seems other rejections were sent on the same day. I dunno, it just seems like in previous mailings, all the decisions were the same. Hope I'm wrong though...

So, I called today. Conversation with the admissions guy (AG) is as follows:

<BOC>

Me: Hi, I checked my status page and it says a final decision letter has been sent. Can you tell me what the decision was, or do I have to wait for the letter?

AG: What's your social security number?

Me: [insert my SSN here]

AG: One second... <brief pause> Uh, yeah, you have to wait for the letter.

<EOC>

So I guess I was rejected. Oh well. 🙁 At least it doesn't take away a spot from one of you guys. 🙂

hey don't sweat it incendiary, you got some kicka$$ acceptances and probably have a bunch more to go 🙂
and who knows, maybe the admissions guy is twisted and only likes to give rejections over the phone... i wouldn't put it pass them...

Oh no. That was really unhelpful of the monotoned dude. Incendiary, it's still too early to conclude negatively yet. I remember a bunch of the SDNers received a letter around the beginning of Feb. I thought they were getting a rejection letter cuz Deanna said that the first round of acceptance letters wouldn't go out til the mid Feb, and they turned out to be the acceptance letters. Don't assume anything til you open up the letter, since the words from the office don't seem to mean anything.

I just found out that I didn't get into my top choice, but I also just found out that I got into Duke, which is way up there on my list. Anyway, I really hope Penn comes through with good news tomorrow, cuz I absolutely loved it there...

Good luck to you! 🙂

I'll post the decision as soon as I get the letter.

Incendiary, let me tell you some good news. Usually a <30 day turn-around is excellent news. UCLA is a slow school, and they certainly don't rush to send out rejections. 🙂 Good luck!!!

for those of you following this thread, i finally got news from LA--I got in! I'm really excited, and so I guess a <30 day turnaround IS good news. Have you heard anything, incendiary?

TOOOOOLD YA!!! CONGRATS ON THE ACCEPTANCE!!!

Now I am turning green with envy. 😀

Congratulations doublestrandbreak!!

Mind if I ask what day you interviewed?

thanks y'all! i think i interviewed feb 15, but i may be off a few days. GOOD LUCK!

Just got the letter. I got in, which was a major surprise, considering I basically told my faculty interviewer that I likely wouldn't go... He was really cool, though, which probably made up for that gaffe.

Anyway, for those of you interested, I interviewed on 1/25, found out on the status page that my "final decision letter" was mailed on 3/12, and I am not a California resident. I think that's everything, but if there's anything else that needs to be said, just let me know. (Oh, I'll probably withdraw in a little too, after I hear from UCSF (guaranteed rejection).

Ah, just remembered what I forgot. The letter is in a business sized envelope. It felt kind of puffy, but then there was just one sheet inside (unless I dropped the rest without realizing it).

congrats, incendiary!

this worries me though, how come the rest of us haven't heard anything. maybe bad news... hehe

Did any of you that got accepted write a letter of intent or an update letter?

dude, incendiary--good job and congrats! is ucla your #1 choice?

•••quote:•••Originally posted by doublestrandbreak:
•dude, incendiary--good job and congrats! is ucla your #1 choice?•••••Thanks, you too. No, I've gotta admit that UCLA is not my top choice. LA would be a bomb place to go to med school, but I have too many other factors that would keep me from attending school near the (Hollywood) stars... How about you?

Does anyone know if UCLA:
1) has a revisit weekend, or
2) offers merit aid?

🙂

How does UCLA conduct their admissions process. My status hasn't changed and I haven't received a secondary or a rejection. What does this mean? I did send their initial app. in late (the end of November). Is anyone else in this situation? Will I most likely get a rejection w/o a secondary?

i haven't written a single of these "letter of intents..." i figured i'd do so if i was put on the waitlist... but what are these about?
