If given the option between the two and you're available for both, which would you choose and why? Do you think interviewers are more likely to see you positively if you interview early in the day (due to being less tired, etc)?

How early is morning? It's up to you, but if I was in your shoes as long as the interview was later than 8 I'd take the morning option

Whatever works for your circadian rhythms. And theirs.
 
FWIW, the book When by Daniel Pink says that most people are mid-morning to mid-day people (he calls them "late lark" and "early third bird") and that for making an impression morning is best.
