Hello, I was wondering how long did it take you all to study for the pharm tech exam? I am using Mosby's review (third edition) to prep for the pharm tech exam and after doing the practice quizzes from each chapter, I realize that the questions are really specific. I am really afraid that I won't be able to memorize all the necessary terminology in the book.. For instance, there is a whole chapter dedicated on drug pharmacology lasting over 60 pages; I was thinking of just memorizing the index which lays out the foundation of the top 200 prescribed drugs but I am not sure..

Secondly, does anyone know what the estimated percentage is to pass the exam? The website states that a passing score would fall around 1400 in a 1600 scoring scale, but I don't know how to quantify that in an estimated percentage.

Hey,

I have the exact same book ordered from Amazon in May 2014. It is a challenging book to read, but it can be done. Use the online website that comes with it for studying the pharmacology terms. There are flashcards. Have you tried that yet? Also, the percentage you mentioned is 87.5%.

How long did it take you to study the pharm tech exam? Yea, I just realized the book contains flashcards. I am hoping to finish this in a month but I am afraid that won't be enough..

I'm still studying, tbh. I have a learning disability and two kids under 3, so I haven't been able to give it my all like I'd like to. I have taken a few practice exams from the book and never scored higher than a 69%. I think that considering all that I have going on, you probably have a great chance of passing if you study hard and smart. Look elsewhere on this site for threads where ppl talk about how they studied. Also check Tumblr for methods to study what is stumping you. (For me, it's pharmacology.)
