I just received my first interview at MOSDOH.

Any input about this school will be greatly appreciated.

its modeled after the program in arizona which ive heard good things about. Kirksville isn't the most exciting city in the world but who really goes to dental school to have fun anyways (two years are in stl afterwards). I would talk a lot about how youre interested in working in rural areas and your volunteering experience. Its quite expensive though, hence why i declined my offer at 7:30 am this morning when they called me (probably sounded quite inebriated on the phone.....).

apologies i should have been more clear. I declined my INTERVIEW offer but i know the area very well since im from around there and have seen the school

yes. like i said, st louis is a great city (currently go to undergrad in STL).

I don't know anything about the dental school specifically, but Truman State University has a very active campus and they bring in a lot of shows, plays, entertainment,(Moscow Ballet, professional orchestras,etc.) so while the town is small and in the middle of nowhere, the campus life is pretty busy and will offer things to do. Take a look at the activity calender for Truman to see if it is appealing.

i didn't have high expectations when i went there for my interview but i was blown away by them. They are so welcoming and i think they will produce amazing dentists with great clinical skills. Their 3rd/4th year rotations are going to be fantastic and like ASDOH, i think this school will be one of the highest rated clinically in a few years

I really liked MOSDOH. Not only did I like the rural town, (my family grew up near there) but the 3rd and 4th year rotations will allow the students to see everything. The dentists that graduate are going be top tier clinicians. If I get accepted there, the check will be in the mail within seconds.

Oh HAHAHA. It was a really good school and the small school feeling helped ease some of the nerves during the interview. One thing that really stood out was how the staff answered all the questions regarding the 3rd and 4th year clinics. Everyone in my group was very nervous about that particular portion of the education process. MOSDOH also does block learning and records every lecture.
Everything is new, shiny, and state of the art. The dental building still has the new car smell.
The down side to the school is the location. I personally like living in a small town, but some of the individuals in my group were asking about malls or local activities to do. It will also be difficult to get practice during your D1 and D2 year because of how small the town is. The student tour guides made it apparent all of your clinical practice is jammed packed in the 3rd and 4th year.

For the most part yes, but you are in only one place during those 3rd and 4th years; the free/reduced clinic. Some schools will throw into the clinic starting week one of your first year. Just different techniques.
With MOSDOH you are based in St. Louis but will move around to different Community Health Clinics through out the Missouri area. After my interview, I checked where the clinics are located and although one of the common links is poverty, certain areas are plagued with various diseases. The moving around will not be ideal and be a huge stress, but it will forge some of the best clinical dentists.

yup i interviewed 12/8 and got accepted 12/16 i put my deposit down and will more than likely be going!
