What was the most boring class you had ever taken? (Basic pre-reqs don't count.. like ochem.. there is already a general consensus on that).

Right now my vote goes for Population Genetics. I mean come on, how many different ways can you re-write the Hardy-Weinberg equation?!! I think conceptually that it's interesting and can be applied to numerous fields.. but you can address all of that in less than half a quarter. Instead, you sit there and learn how to prove various equations, statistics up the yin-yang and I just want to cry..

I think I'm the only premed in the class to boot.

immunology. i hate mast cells and t cells and b cells and mhcs and hlas. and all of the ILs. freaking alphabet soup 😡

Ecology- it couldn't have been further from medicine and science for me. We had to memorize foodwebs for goodness sake.

🙄

anatomy. too many parts to remember. my brain cannot fit a lot of stuff, even for short-term.

I heard about that class.. I'm staying far far away from it. Just from a cursorary overview in physiology I have a packet about an inch thick I have to go over.. makes baby Jesus cry.

im not a science major, so mine would have to be topics of composition (the female body and sexuality during meideval times)

sure some of it is intriguing...but mostly boring chaucer type writing

I took a computer programming class (C++) when I used to be a chem-major, and needless to say, it sucked big-time

what the hell was I thinking???

+pissed+

Philosophy "Intro to ethics." This has to be the worst class ever. Imagine 10 weeks of "But what does he truly mean by happiness?, what is justice really?, what does better off mean?, who are truly your friends and enemies, what if...!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I wanted to die! Thank goodness the final is next week and I can never think about it again!!!

The most boring class by FAR for me was Intro to Mathematical Logic...

Any other math majors out there? 😉

I'd have to say Inorganic Chemistry... who really cares about point groups, character tables, and molecular orbitals?! Not to mention, the professor was flaky and PPD.

i cant think of a single class in college that I found boring. 😀

I can't honestly remember ANYTHING I learned in calculus.

Ear Training and Sight Singing for all you music majors out there!

double-whammy: intro archaeology and intro to cultural anthropology. but such are the perils of a major in anthropology. man, sucky intro level classes can bite me. 😀

intermediate macroeconomics. you try spending three months learning about the economic basis of the great depression. but without any of the semi-interesting parts. just equations with lots of greek letters.

I would like to mention Stats again. Ugh; felt like reading a TI-83 manual all semester...

calc 1 wasnt too much fun.
calc 2 was only bearable since the guy was funny.

and to chameleonknight....

hahah that is exactly what intro stats was.....learning how to use that ti83 plus. but once you figure that out.... it was a breeze haha.

but yes.... math. boo.

Umm? PPD? Purified Protein Derivative (used for subcutaneous tuberculosis tests)?! I must be missing something...fill me in.

"Philosophy of Biology." A 3-hour-long class (right after lunch!) about applications of Hardy-Weinberg, Ethics, and theory. Weekly 10-page papers and calss attendance were required. Got the grade though, and killed two birds with one stone for upper div bio and writing req.

you guys reminded me of p-chem.

i was not too much of a fan of p-chem.

Definitely "Research Methods for biologists" otherwise known as Biostats. Basically it taught us how to use excel for running stats tests, how to read journal articles, how to write scientific papers, and how to set up studies/experiments. Almost all of this stuff is common sense, and the assignments were straight busywork. zzzzzz. The book we use is actually for an intro research grad class. If you're a science major and don't know how to read a journal article by the time you get to grad school you're in major trouble lol.

At least our prof is cool...he's a kinesiologist at the Olympic Training Center here, but I'll be very glad when this requirement is done and out of the way in a week and a half lol.

Biological Anthro! So boring ...🙁

My first calculus class was pretty boring because of the professor. I didn't figure out until the third week that he was saying "secant" line, not "second line." It made sense either way! There were two lines drawn on the board! 🙂

Hey, come on.. History's cool!

D'OH.. I'm taking a brand new ecology class next quarter.. has field trips and everything. It seemed an interesting way to waste time.

Was it boring or just hard? I think C++ programming is awsome, but it can be very difficult.

Personally I will second ecology, who really cares about the professors pet projects? If I really wanted to know about bird lice I would take an ornithology class.

PPD = Post Partum Depression

It was a horrible, horrible class... over half the class failed and no one had the balls to tell the teacher she sucked, until I busted out by telling her she lacked passion and confidence in her teaching skills. I made her cry, but that's not the only awkward moment I have had with this professor...
