Most Difficult AAMCs?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
haven't taken all of them yet, but I'd second that 8 was really difficult. I'm not really sure that you can say one is more difficult than the other (sometimes I guess it could be...), personally I think that the "more difficult" ones were simply ones that I hadn't quite prepared adequately for. Though it seems like there is a lot of overlap, each test will have things worded slightly differently and cover some slightly different material.

8 was by far the hardest for me. I took all of 3-11 that are currently available, and my score on 8 was 3 points below my average. It was 2 points below my next lowest score (which was on 11). So 8 and 11 were definitely the hardest for me.

Side note: My real MCAT PS was vastly more difficult than any of the practice tests. If I had to make a comparison, I would say that my real PS was similar to the BS on 11, which a lot of people consider the hardest BS section. Be ready for your science sections to be more similar to VR than they are on any of the practice tests; this is a recent trend that a lot of people have picked up on.

I have taken 5 AAMCs so far in this order:

3 - 37
10 - 37
9 - 38
4- 40
5 - 34

I don't know about you guys, but 5 felt impossible! 3 felt the easiest IMO. But 5 just tested the weirdest concepts on BS, and verbal absolutely destroyed me. Anyone have similar experiences? Gonna give 7 a go tomorrow. And why is there no AAMC 6?

I don't think any of the AAMCs are harder/easier than the others because, in the end, the scores are scaled to even things out between tests.

That being said, the later ones are progressively more representative of the current MCAT.

I'm not sure why 6 was removed. I did the paper version (6R) and found it to be good practice.

I didn't find 8 or 11 particularly hard. I scored close to my practice test average on both. But I scored 3 points below my average (5 points below my actual score) on AAMC 10. I think this goes to show that there's an element of luck involved once you get into the higher percentile range (90+)

I took 4 practice tests (8,9,10,11) and for me

Hardest PS - AAMC 9

Hardest VR - AAMC 9

Hardest BS - AAMC 11

Each test is different. Just like your real MCAT.

AAMC 11 is most like what you're going to see on test day.

I've been seeing this a lot, but what do people mean when they say that the science sections are becoming a lot more like VR? Do they mean more inference from a passage? More logic based, based on a passage?

Yes. Less emphasis on just remembering stuff and more emphasis on being able to critically analyze passage materials along with background content knowledge to answer questions.

I haven't found a real difference between the tests. I score +/- a couple points from my average on tests 3-10.

Dude I'm pretty pleased you said that because I thought 5 BS and VR were pretty strange and difficult.

I've been averaging 39 on my practices but went down to a 36 on AAMC 5.

But some people say 7 is the hardest (I got 39 on that) and others say 8, 10, 11...so I think there's no real "hardest" because it depends on the guy.

I suppose we just gotta keep going at it and doing as many as we can.
