Most Hardcore EM Intern Years

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Check out emra. They should have average hours and shifts per month as an intern and upper level.

from when i was interviewing ummm 8 years ago, 2 that come to mind are:
- Denver - brutal off-service months
- Jacobi - 20 12's a month when in the ED iirc -- i think that was the pgy2/EM1 year, as it was 2-4 at the time

Considering that everyone here at best has personal knowledge of their own intern year, or haven't graduated medical school, I can't imagine you're going to get a consensus response.
Also, with the rule changes for work hours, many of the old guard can't even comment on what happens now.

The programs that have old-school rotation schedules that include off-service months in medicine, peds, surgery, trauma, ICU, etc are the ones that will be the most brutal. ED rotations are limited to 60 hours/week and no more than 6 days in a row (I think).

Which programs have the most hardcore EM intern years and are the toughest in the country?

Most hardcore? Difficult to assess.

Toughest? The ones where you don't fit into the culture.
