I know a few schools ask for most likely practice scenario in the future. USF lists a bunch of choices including healthcare administration, public health, and health policy. Would it be weird to choose one of those? I'm just worried about raising the question "why medicine" since technically there are other routes to all of those settings. I have significant public health experience to back up my answer but still wasn't sure it was a good idea.

Depends... do you plan on completing a residency? Or do you want to graduate medical school and immediately enter one of those fields without completing a residency?

Definitely completing a residency and practicing for a long time. Ideally I would always maintain some element of clinical practice while doing some policy or administration work, but the question requires choosing only one setting so I wasn’t sure whether to choose practice or policy. Thanks!

Choose academic practice incorporating both clinical care of patients as well as advocacy for patients through policy or a leadership position requiring administrative work.

Makes sense, thank you very much
