I understand that most physician's get into medicine to help people and that the bureucratic/policy side of medicine does not attract most. However, as professionals how/why have physicians allowed for politicians/insurance companies to largely dictate the future of medicine? This passiveness has been responsible, in part, to the lower reimbursement rates that physicians are continually forced to face.

1. Politicians and interest groups control the vast majority of professional fields;
2. Imo physicians should NOT be dictating the future of medicine. Their experience is useful and should be heard by policymakers, but the average practionner has no clue what kind of a beast health care is and have no business running it (and remember that physicians constitute a minority of the health care force);
3. IIRC physicians aren't getting pay cuts overall. The average and median earning goes up every year, and faster than inflation.
