Most Pharmacists Job Descriptions Don't List Board Certification as a Requirement

Saw this interesting article about the nexus between credentials and employment. Not surprising.

Most pharmacist job descriptions didn't list board certification as a preferred credential. However, there is a preference for board certification for predominantly clinical jobs. Also, the most common board certification requested is pharmacotherapy.
They also don’t list “willing to work for $40/hr and provide free overtime” but that’s what they want.
 
Yes, it looks like the cutoff for "most" was 51% vs. 49% (still almost half) and among clinical jobs 53% preferred. I think it is slowly becoming a standard as part of credentialing and privileging processes. The clinical jobs I applied for, and my current one, at least preferred it and I know multiple settings where it is financially incentivized.

Here in California the Advanced Practice Pharmacist license is usually not necessary (yet) to be under collaborative practice agreements since they wanted to get it in place before payment mechanisms come later, but note that board certification is one way of meeting its 2/3 requirements.
