So I'm applying for SMPs to take during my gap year. However, if I don't get accepted I was going to just retake some courses to take advantage of grade replacement and also take biochem just to get ahead and because I like biochem.

I was thinking of retaking Chem 101. I got a D in it way back in 2008 and then changed my major. However, I got As in both gen Chems and Orgos on my first attempt. My premed adviser thinks it's a bad idea to backtrack and retake Chem 101, and recommends I take something like inorganic or analytical Chem

Would it be a good idea to retake that Chem 101 to get a nice Gpa boost from essentially a D for an A, or should I just take something more difficult so I can show adcoms I'm good at chemistry, and not simply chase a number (Gpa).

Is there any way you can take both classes? A change from D to an A as well as an upper division A would look great. If that isn't possible, it depends on your GPA.

If that D turning into an A significantly increases your sGPA then that would be the sure recommendation. If not, the additional A from the other chem classes will suffice. Honestly, especially if you are applying D.O., I would recommend just retake the intro class and be done with it. Numbers matter more than most things when it comes to acceptance.

Great. Any idea if it would matter if I'm gonna boost my Gpa during academic update? So I suppose after they review my secondary
