I don't know if anyone else has stumbled upon this yet (aside from current medical students, of course) but the AAMC publishes a questionnaire for matriculants each year containing a variety of interesting metrics including:

- Specialty preference
- Undergraduate debt
- When the student decided on medicine
- Backup career choice
- # of MCAT retakes (if any)
- Anticipated practice setting (academia vs clinical, geographic location, urban vs rural, etc)
- Parental income

Anyway, just thought I'd share: https://www.aamc.org/download/269322/data/msq2011.pdf

Pretty interesting, excellent share! 👍

Oh what great data! What I would give to have the original data, one could do some cool stuff with that.

Matriculating students over 26 are much rarer than I would've thought.
