Hey guys so I'm a Pre Med Sophomore and I've had a super difficult first two years so far from being in the hospital, to just everyday bad luck, to terribly hard classes. My dream has always been to be a doctor but I feel like with all these road blocks that I'll never make it. Basically I have a 3.54 GPa and I'm a super hard worker it's just being in the hospital with a collapsed lung pushed me back this semester and I had to drop Chem and chem lab so I feel like I'm screwed for my future. I just need overall advice to help me keep my head up. Thanks guys and appreciate any responses!

Your GPA is good, and dropping classes is perfectly normal, as long as you don't fail anything. Just keep on trucking and you're well on your way!!

Thank you so much! I feel like everyone has like crazy GPA's and I'm super behind ya know. I hear medical school is like impossible to get into when it's my dream. Again appreciate it so much. My mentality has just be brought down due to all my complications of these past 2 years of school.

Everyone has their own journey, at there own pace. Don't compare yourself to people on SDN, it's an exercise in futility. And it only gets worse with all the impressive folks you'll meet in your med school class. I'm happy to see that you're still motivated, even after your rough 2 years. Don't worry, just keep your eyes on the prize. =)

Second year Med student here with a GPA lower than yours. I’m doing fine, and you will too. Keep your head up and get good grades with the right ECs and you’ll have absolutely no trouble succeeding. Remember, if the average gpa is 3.7 that means plenty were above and plenty were below.

Comparing yourself to others will get you nowhere; focus on your own strengths and use them.

Thank youu we're both on the same both as many are too. I'll definitely keep my head up and try my absolute best in all my classes. What EC's do you think are best because I heard that pre med clubs don't really do much. Volunteer work or research is best from what I've heard.

Yeah it won't get me anywhere I just compare because I've gone through a lot and see people doing great in school and out of school. It's just hard but everyone is different.

You've gone through so much and you're still doing good. That's already a good thing. Stay positive and motivated. You'll be good
