Hello Everyone,

I am super fortunate to be in the position to be able to choose between medical schools. However, I am somewhat torn. For some context, I am from North Carolina and received a substantial merit scholarship from Miami. I know sinai may be viewed as more "prestigious". I am looking at ENT and interventional radiology as potential specialties. I am also on the WL at both Weill Cornell And UPenn. Any advice would be much appreciated.

This is difficult to comment on without more information about your preferences as well as the exact cost difference between the schools. Have you heard back about merit and/or financial aid from Sinai and UNC? Do you have a preference for matching into NC or NYC or somewhere else in the country? Honestly, all of these are great schools that will make it very possible to match ENT or IR, so if you don't have any preference for one over the other, then I'd just follow the money.

Disclaimer: still waiting on UNC decision

If you're interested in ENT, you can't go wrong with any of the three! There are some fantastic people at Miami ENT and they matched someone to MEEI last year, so you'd be in good hands! Same goes for UNC, great ENT team and very supportive. Personally if I were in your shoes, I'd be between Miami and UNC for the cost and the solid programs. I can't speak much on IR, but Mt Sinai will place you in a really good position if you'd like to train in the Northeast. Do you have preference for location? Miami is quite different from Sinai. Would need more info about other preferences to give a better detail

Congrats on three great options! Miami is not a consolation prize by any means; I think it's your best option at least in terms of lifestyle. It's a great program and I think it would easily appeal to someone who is interested in staying in a city with year-round warm weather and all of the amenities of, in my opinion, the most prestigious program in the state. And if you develop a sudden affinity for ophthalmology, Bascom Palmer is #1.

Congrats! Can't speak for the other schools but I can say, as a beneficiary of Miami's generosity, that I am doubly fortunate because the program has been amazing and it is also a great place to attend medical school and live.
