Hi everyone,

I'm moving from the East Coast to the West Coast for med school. I was wondering if any one can recommend me a good moving company or suggest other ways I can use to move all of my stuff to med school?

Last time I let a moving company move my stuff, some of the boxes got. lost 🙁 So I'm not sure which companies are reliable.

Thanks for your help!

same here except opposite coasts. if i find anything myself, i'll let you know.

I'm using Unity Van Lines, which is a smaller but BBB certified and all that moving company. Using them because they have the best price. I found them through getting a free quote from movers.com.

I'm moving from Texas to Cali and it's costing me about $1000. Most other companies were $1200-$1500.

Hey guys-

I had REALLY good luck with a website called uship in which you list your shipment and truckers bid on it. The truckers have feeback so you know if they are reputable or not. It's kind of like ebay for shipments. Also, you can specify that you will pay them AFTER the shipment has been delivered, so if there are any issues, you won't lose your cash. Anyway, when I looked a few minutes ago, there were a couple of east-west movies hovering around the $1200 range. If money is a consideration, this is definitely a great option. Like I said, I had an excellent experience with uship when I moved from Maryland to New Hampshire a few months ago.

Good luck!

I am moving from Washington DC to Southern Illinois and am using ABF U-Pack. They have a few options....Door-to-Door: They drop off a 28 foot trailer to your place and you load it...they pick it up 1-2 days later and drive it to your destination and then you have 2 days to unload it. If you are going from a house to a house this is a great option. But if you are moving to/from an apt complex then it gets difficult to figure out a place to put a 28ft trailer for two days. The other option is called terminal-to-terminal. You take your stuff to the nearest regional terminal and pack the trailer, they drive, you pick it up at the terminal on your destination end. Go to Upack.com and you'll find all the info. They are licensed/insured/BBB certified all the works. They are super cheap, much cheaper than getting your own truck, because if you don't fill up the whole trailer a commercial company fills the remaining footage with whatever they want to ship. They have instant quotes sent to your e-mail, takes only a few minutes. The price for my move was $1000 for door-to-door and terminal to terminal was $800...that was for 10 ft of linear space, approx. 1br apt worth of stuff.

I haven't actually done the moving yet but I feel very confident that my stuff will get their unharmed. PM me if you have any more questions.
