So when you relocate after dental school who picks up the tab for the uhaul, travel, etc to move to the base? When you move from one base to an other who pays for that move?? Is it all out of pocket?

DoD (the military pays the bills). You can make more if you decide to move some, or all of your things by yourself.

Are you sure you'll be overweight, the moving allowance for officers is pretty high. But outdoor toys can add up quick!

Well, hopefully it will be offset by the moving bonus. We moved from Cleveland to Germany, and it was a little over $2000. They explained that it's to cover all of the things you had to leave behind (cleaning supplies, batteries, etc...) that the movers won't take. Don't quote me on this, but I think that amount is set, not based on how far you're moving.

You do not have to live on base right? In other words, will the Navy help you relocate to an area off base? (but close enough for you to go to the base and work everyday?)

Yes, the Navy, and all other branches, will pay for your moving expenses wether you live on or off base.

What about the original move when you get accepted into D-school and you move from home to d-school?
