I'm applying to dental school now and I know this residency is a long time away, but I have this one concern. Is it easier/necessary to go to dental school in the same state as where you do residency/where you want to live? Is it easy to move? Do you have to retake any exams or get new licenses when you move to a new state? Finally, in terms of residency admissions, do they mostly take dental students who are in their own state?

just apply, get accepted and worry about everything else later...moving is part of the experience. Its easier to get in dental school instate, residencies vary

i would hazard a guess that the place where you have the best shot of getting into for residency is the school at which you did your 4 years of dental school.
