I'm from GA and moving to NC in April . Should I apply in state at NC schools or will I be considered for it? I will be taking a new job there. Anyone with any experience on this?

You may have to live in NC for a certain amount of time before being considered in-state. Try calling the dental school to see what their in-state policy is

People are ridiculous: if you move to a different state, yes you become a resident of that state and may apply to their schools as a resident; you have to make sure you would have lived in that state for a year before dental school starts in order to confirm your residency status.

Claiming GA residency would be absurd as you would not be able to show that you lived in GA for one year prior to beginning of dental school.

I moved from GA to FL while applying and was considered a FL resident because I will have lived here for one year (barely over 12 months) before the first day of classes

Right, I know. I just was frustrated because applying right when I move I thought OMG I may be OOS for every school. And NC has two schools. I'm not even sure if ECU is worth applying to... I will be submitting the day the app opens up. This is my 2nd go around

I know of someone who did this, moved from one state to another (nc - 2 state school) ... For NC residency it's a lot of paper work and you may get residency at one and not the other. Ecu only takes NC residents... So be careful

Allantois, you are correct that if you move to a state you can become a resident of that state after a period of time. But, you aren't necessarily correct about being able to apply as an in state resident. Different states have different rules. Texas, for instance, you have to prove why you moved there. Without a legitimate reason, they can and may deny you in state status. Other states are the same way. Some states will treat you as an out of state resident for the first year and then grant in state after. So, it is not as clear cut as you state.
