Hello everyone, I am planning to movie to Buffalo and trying find out the best place to rent a house and find a decent place. Anyone has some idea? As of this website http://www.bestplaces.net/city/new_york/buffalo Buffalo is 26% lower than the USA Average and the best place to live is round downtown area. What do you guys think? My other question I am coming to BUF Airport and would like to take a taxi actually a cheaper taxi and found this student discount http://www.airporttaxibuffalo.com/ about 29$ downtown.....is there any cheaper option? Thank you so much for your help.🙂

Use Uber. Troll Craigslist and Zillow for house rental.

Rent a car at the airport. How else will you explore enough to know where you want to put a deposit down?

I've been to both of UB's campuses. Even though the UB campus moved I'd still rather be renting on the Amherst side than the downtown side.

If I was going to D'Youville I'd still probably wanna live in between UB and the other UB, but I can't comment on the commute or more importantly the winter commute to DYC.

No Uber or Lyft in upstate NY. Craigslist is fine for housing, might be able to find roommates through school, so I would check into that also. The city isn't that big, you can commute from anywhere in 20-30 min.

Depends on what you like. If you like crappy suburban hell scape live in Amherst west and north of south campus. For college kid slums live around south (but dear god not east of campus). If you want rich cool parents, hipster and and cool kids live in elmwood. Allentown is good for bums and trendy people and more hipsters.

Honestly. Throw some places up and I'll Give you the run down on location etc

Live downtown. Elmwood village/Allentown is a riot. Don't stray too far away from Elmwood or Delaware because you don't want to end up in bad neighborhoods. I used to live at the Graystone and it was pretty legit. Right near the bars and pretty close to some awesome restaurants, but very quiet during the week. PM me if you want some other suggestions. I'm a relocatee as well and still live here so I can help you if you need it.

***EDIT: Don't stray when you get to downtown. Up in Allentown/Elmwood Village, it's really nice throughout that area and you can find some decent apartments. There's an apartment near North and Elmwood that my resident lives in now that's super nice. You might check it out. There's a church across the street from it, I think. It's near the Walgreens on Delaware and North. Your commute would be less than 15 minutes to D'Youville and less than 20 to UB south campus.

The most important thing you can have to prepare for moving to Buffalo, NY is a 90 day supply of Prozac.
