I didn't do so well in undergrad and I'm wondering, should I apply for an MPH and then try to apply to medical school? Or take a postbacc program and repeat my science classes? I'm currently a nonscience major, but i've done my premed reqs and done not too good on them. Or should I try majoring in Biology and taking upper level classes and trying to do good on them. Any and all advice on this would be appreciated. I'm really not sure what to do right now. I mean, can high grades in your MPH program make up for a low gpa in BCMP?

If you are trying to recover from low a science/pre-med classes gpa the best think you can do is a post-bacc. These classes will factor into your undergrad gpa in the end and hopefully help you get a more competitive gpa. When you are applying to med school with a lower gpa the best thing to do is make sure that you do very well in your post-bacc and that there is a definite upward trend.

Getting a masters is great but it won't help your undergrad gpa.

Hope that helps!

mph won't help you to improve your science scores, because most of the classes don't count as science based.

it will look good after your name though.

If you need to boost your GPA, do a post bacc or a science masters. If you are interested in public health, then do an MPH.

Given your scenario, I agree with the previous posters and think you should do a post bacc.

An MPH won't do much for you. It's not really science-based. Go for either a formal postbac (don't retake classes...some med schools discourage this). Instead take upper graduate level courses..possibly do a masters in the sciences...coursework rather than research-related.
