This data show only show 8000+ grads who took MPJE versus 14,000+ who took Naplex. NABP only shows data for grads who took the MPJE in the state where grad went to pharmacy school. So 5,0000+ grad data for MPJE is not shown.

Congrats to HBCUs, Chicago State, 0-6 programs especially MCPHS and Rutgers (LOL@ 75.9% pass rate with N = 138), volume private schools, most newer private schools, UMD in UTC-5 for a typically pathetic showing.

Passing rate is declining...Is the exam harder now or the students are dumber? Just curious

State to state, there may have been changes over the last few years. However, to my knowledge there has not been a massive overhaul like what occurred with the NAPLEX. Also, yes the quality of students is definitely worse, every year of new students I see on rotations backs that up. That is the price of lowering standards to make sure you can fill all 150 seats and then pushing those students through the curriculum.

Possible reasons as to why the data is not recorded:

1. Students are lost-to-follow-up after they graduate.
2. The school does not monitor the graduation data.
3. NABP data only factors in information on who passed the exam for that particular state and set that state as their primary jurisdiction.

The MPJE exam pass is the determining factor for most states in determining pharmacist licensure. The NAPLEX is heavily emphasized and discussed on YouTube channels and via student and faculty discussions, but the MPJE is not as emphasized. How can we encourage that discussion?

I am genuinely curious as well. I believe the declining pass rate is due to increased burnout, increased competition, increased financial burdens (i.e. student loan debts higher than $200K) of new pharmacy graduates, and decreasing salaries in traditional areas of pharmacy practice. Traditional areas like retail, independent, and hospital is where most students earn their first job as a pharmacist. It is very rare for someone to gain an MSL position or a pharmacy fellowship right out of pharmacy school.

I took FL, CO, and possibly taking TX in a few months....I always leave the testing center punching the steering wheel.....no joke. Then i find out i passed. Whoever makes those questions and exams needs their heads examined. Multiple correct answers, ambiguous, K-type all the way. I feel they are more difficult than the naplex by far. Because its like they take black and white law and turn the questions into insane scenarios leaving you thinking about federal or state law, which is more applicable and what is going on here....lol. Question by question my frustration grows until i wanna take the terminal and toss it on the floor and run out.....lol. how funny would that be? i would probably make the news. If you hear about this happening soon, youll know who did it.

Alright KU!

University of Kansas 99% pass rate on both NAPLEX and MPJE. The only pharmacy school in the state!

Of course, I imagine KS is not exactly a desirable place and thus probably not as indirect on their law test vs all-other-49-states. Still exciting to see.
