Not sure if you can compare the two. I don't think it would be as difficult to get in to those programs...as long as you don't want funding 🙂 ....but it would certainly be difficult once you got in. It would be fun and you get to do some original research. Also, finding faculty positions is difficult...anywho, every field is difficult and each presents its own challenges.
