I'm debating whether to apply to my state med school's MS in Biomed science program or my university's MS in Applied Clinical Psychology. Will the psych thing add to my med school applicatoin? (Undergrad gpa ~ 3.3) I'd prefer to get something useful in case I never get into med school; I can get a decent $40k/year job with the psych MS.

Just curious.

maybe you need to hire an admissions consultant. 🙂 see the thread in the non-trads forum about them, if interested.

i think the masters in applied psych could be pretty cool. hopefully, it'd get you some research experience, and you could always say in your applications that you're interested in psych or neuro to tie it all together. what would probably be even cooler could be to get the masters and actually use it and work for a year or two. doing direct psych work would probably be a great clinical experience and give you lots and lots to talk about.

of course, i could be totally wrong because i am not an admissions consultant.

It might be easier to get into your state med school if you complete the program there. You can make decent money with MS in biomed science too depending on what avenue you persue.

I think my best bet would be to try to defer a year at AUC and apply for SGU's Jan 07 semester. THat way I can reapply at least one more time, and buy some time to straighten out my finances.
