Hey guys,

Any suggestions on how to get involved in research during the MS3 year? I really did a lot during college//gap years but I want to get back into it. But it feels like there's no time to do it right now with how busy MS3 is turning out to be. How can I still get some research in?

Step 1= go to the department you are interested in .
Step 2. make this exact pose

Step 3. do the work

I asked my preceptor, who I knew was doing research, and we found a good retrospective EHR based project that I could do while in 3rd year!

I went from 3-4 presentations/pubs/abstracts to 20+ over the course of 3rd year. You can fit it in if you give up all happiness and become a shell of a person for a year. Depends on how much you need the research. But if you carve out a couple Saturdays from like 6am to 2pm for research, you can get stuff done while still having time in the afternoon to study

.....I'm so glad med school is almost over

How did you go about getting those third year research opportunities? Were they mostly case reports? Coming from a DO school myself, just starting third year, I'm interested in getting some research on my app but not sure how to without a good research dept at my school, nor any hardcore preceptors (so far). I'm sure rotating with residents and attendings in the hospital services would be better?
