Does anyone know approx. when the 2015 MSAR will be released? Will it change from year to year or can we just buy the 2014 version for the 2015-2016 app cycle?

I'm not sure of the release date for the hard copy. However, if you subscribe to the one year online subscription the AAMC would likely update the database for all users with active subscriptions, regardless of when they made their purchase.

Are you supposed to buy in April if you're applying THAT may or the next may?

Get it as soon as you need it to start picking schools. The numbers don't change much year to year, and curriculum/prereqs info can basically be found on all school sites and bulletins.

Okay, I'm working on my school list, and wanted to see what classes and what LORs I need and/or missing (hard science major, already graduated). Duke Univ. now wants Psychology and Sociology for next app cycle. I have the current MSAR, but waiting until April may mess with schedule for work/classes/LOR requests, etc. Most of my academic professors want a copy of Transcripts and personal statement, so I'm working on that now. If I want LORS by July 1, need to ask before the summer break (some are only around the academic year). As I'm meeting with them personally, I want to show I have a plan, what schools I'm applying too, so I don't look clueless.

Beware if you took the old MCAT, the "new" requirements are already trickling in at some schools. Need to check school websites for "new" requirements, which aren't all updated yet. I recommend getting the MSAR, review school list for the 10/90th percentiles, then recheck it when it rolls over in April to new "requirements".
