I have the 2010-2011 MSAR. I see that in the "Costs of Attendance" section for each school, there is a "total cost of attendance," but that is then broken down into "Tuition" and "Other (Including living expenses)." My question is what exactly is this "Other?" Is it only living expenses? If so, why do certain schools in the same city have different living expenses. What else might this "Other" include?

Fees (these vary widely depending on the school), computer costs (assuming compulsory computer charge), health insurance, and cost of living are the main things that go into "other," I believe. The fees make up most of the variance between the totals.

Just look at each school's financial aid site and you should be able to see exactly how its broken down. They all should have COA forms readily available online.
