Hi guys....
I am in the process of applying to programs and am a future D.O.. Quick ?. I want to do a DO transitional year and start at an advanced spot as a CA-1. I am applying to programs with both advanced and categorical tracks. I think U of F is one of many. Let's say i click on both advanced and categorical for Uof F, and match at a DO internship/transitional, will i be eliminated for just the categorical track at U of F or for both the advanced and categorical? Have tried to figure this out but can get an answer.
THis question comes up because for all of the programs I have on my list I have selected advanced positions only. From a recent thread, it seems like I may have a better chance of interviewing.matching if i select both advanced and categorical tracks for those programs that offer both. Any advice or answers is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you match DO, which is early, then don't bother ranking categorical positions because you will be eliminated from them anyways. Matching DO will NOT remove you from selecting advanced positions.

Be wary that you are effectively removing anywhere from 1/4 to 2/3 or more of your potential matches by taking yourself out of the categorical spots via the DO match. Sucks don't it.
